Dogwood Family
40'. Crown rounded. Leaves 5", opposite, elliptical, wavy-edged, with curved veins; turn russet to magenta. Bark reddish brown, smooth to scaly. Flowers 5", each made up of 4-7 white, petal-like bracts around dense greenish flower cluster; bloom Apr.-June, sometimes again in Sept. Berries 1/2", bright red, elliptical, in 1 1/2" clusters. Habitat Lowland wet forests. Range West of Cascades.
