Hi there!

I have some exciting updates I’d like to share, starting with my new stand-alone novel The Running Dream.

If you’re not a runner (or don’t like sports, period) don’t worry. This story may be about a high school track star who lives to run, but it’s also about something universal—getting through hard times. In this case, the main character, Jessica Carlisle, sees no reason to live after her leg gets crushed in a bus accident.

There are certain things I believe we need to keep in our emotional arsenal as we navigate through life. Hope is a big one. The more of that we can carry, the better. My mission as a writer is to give my readers hope to carry with them, and to promote a belief that they can do anything they set their minds to.

So really, The Running Dream is a story for anyone who likes to see an underdog triumph. It’s also for people who have “faced the darkness” and for people who know people who have. Looking back on my own Dark Days (which were nothing compared to Jessica’s), I recognize that my friends weren’t bad friends—they just didn’t know what to do or how to react. It’s easy to lose your hope and your way if you feel alone, and one of my favorite things about The Running Dream is that the people around Jessica show us ways to shine a light.

So that’s my newest book and I do hope you’ll check it out. If you’re here because you’re a fan of Sammy Keyes you’ll find a section of this site devoted to our favorite spunky sleuth. Sammy Keyes and the Wedding Crasher is the latest title, with Sammy Keyes and the Night of Skulls set to publish later this year. After that, four books to go until the grand finale!

Younger readers should check out the Shredderman section, which spotlights a four-book series starring the world's first cyber-superhero (a fifth grader who finds creative ways of shreddin' on bullies and other bad guys!), and, in case you haven’t been introduced, meet The Gecko and Sticky—another four-book series starring two of the funniest guys I know.

Finally, there's a link to my other novels like Flipped (a romantic comedy for middle schoolers), Swear to Howdy (a story about the power of secrets), Runaway, which is the journal of a twelve-year-old who’s desperate for a better life, and Confessions of a Serial Kisser, another romantic comedy—this one about finding substance beneath the lip gloss.

And oh yeah—there's a page about me, but really, you can skip that if you want to. For me it's all about the books and you, the readers.

Thanks for checking in. I hope you enjoy the site!

Wendelin
