James the Red Engine rushes under the bridge to take freight cars to the Yard, but he is going too fast and falls off the track into a field of cows. Thomas saves the day by bringing a special breakdown train that helps lift James back onto the rails. Back at the shed, the workmen make James as good as new.
The working wheels at the bottom of the book let Thomas fans take James for a ride, too!

Three terrific Thomas the Tank Engine Little Golden Books (Thomas Breaks a Promise, Thomas and the Big Big Bridge, and May the Best Engine Win!) are collected together in an attractive mini-treasury. A great value at $5.99, this book is perfect for gift-giving!
In the early 1940s, a loving father crafted a small, blue, wooden train engine for his son, Christopher. The stories that The Reverend W. Awdry made up to accompany this wonderful toy were first published in 1945. He continued to create new adventures and characters until 1972 when he retired from writing. He died in 1997 at age 85.

Thomas and all the other engines are working hard. At the end of a long day, Thomas discovers an old track that long ago fell into disuse. As the track becomes more and more overgrown, Thomas thinks he must be lost, until he pulls into a forgotten town that has been abandoned for fifty years. Thomas and a new Really Useful Engine named Stanley are asked to fix up the old town, but first they need to learn to cooperate.
Based on a new full-length Thomas TV special and DVD, this tale has an exciting mystery element and is sure to become a Little Golden Book classic!
