Read a lot! Tips for reading with your 24- to 36-month-old: Encourage your child to choose her own books and don't be surprised if she asks to read the same book over and over again; repetition encourages her to "read" the story to you and talk about her favorite parts. Encourage your child to retell the story and to express herself through pointing, cooing, or words.
