From 6 to 12 months, your baby may be:
Starting to babble, with sounds like "ma" and "da"
Clapping or using gestures to communicate
Pointing and starting to understand that people and objects have names
Repeating several words over and over again

Tips for reading with your 6- to 12-month-old:
Laugh a lot together—your child is developing a sense of humor and playfulness. Find words or games that make your baby laugh!
Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds. His first words are suddenly joined by several new ones, which he will say over and over again. Read together, explore the pictures, and name what the people and things are doing.

Make reading your special time together-cuddle up and share a favorite story!
