Rules & Regulations
I. HOW TO ENTER.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter by signing up for
the
Read and Play email newsletter at http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/readandplay
between December 1, 2008 and January 1,
2008. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON PER MONTH. Partially
completed
entries will not be accepted. Random House is
not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or
misdirected entries, or for technical, hardware
or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable
network connections, or failed, incomplete,
garbled
or delayed computer transmission or any human
error that may occur in the receipt or processing
of online entries. All entries become the property
of Random House and will not be returned.
II. ELIGIBILITY
Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of
the United States who are over the age of
13 on
December 1, 2008. All federal, state and local
laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited
or restricted by law. Employees of Random
House
Inc., its parent, subsidiaries and affiliates,
and their immediate family members, and persons
living in their household are not eligible to
enter this sweepstakes.
III. PRIZES
3 first prize winners will receive one (1) copy
each of the following books: Amazing
Peace (9780375841507); Lucky New
Year
(9780375852244); and How to Make a Cherry
Pie and See the USA (9780375812552).
(Approximate combined prize value is $44.97)
IV. WINNERS
Winners will be chosen at random on or about
January 1, 2008 from all eligible entries
received by Random House Children’s Books.
Odds of winning are based on number of entrants.
All prizes will
be awarded. By participation, entrants agree
to be bound by the official rules and the
decision
of Random House. Winners will be notified by
e mail on or about January 1, 2008. The
prizes will
be awarded in the name of the winners’ parents
or legal guardians if winners are under the
age
of 18 on December 1, 2008 . Taxes, if any are
the sole responsibility of the winners, or their
parents
or legal guardians if winners are under the age
of 18. Winners, or their parents or legal guardians
if winners are under the age of 18, may be required
to execute and return, within 14 days of receiving
notification, affidavits of eligibility and release.
Noncompliance within that period or the return
of any notification as undeliverable will result
in disqualification and the selection of an
alternate
winner. In the event of any other noncompliance
with rules and conditions, the prize may be
awarded
to an alternate winner. RANDOM HOUSE RESERVES
THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL OR GREATER
VALUE IF PRIZES, AS STATED ABOVE, BECOME UNAVAILABLE.
V. RESERVATIONS.
Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission
for Random House
to use the winner’s name, likeness and
biographical data for editorials, advertising,
and promotional
purposes in all electronic or print media without
payment of additional compensation or further
permission (unless prohibited by law). By entering,
participants and their parents and legal guardians
release and hold harmless Random House, their
respective parent, subsidiaries, affiliates,
directors,
officers, employees, attorneys, agents, and representatives
from any and all liability for an any injuries,
loss, claim, action, demand, or damage of any
kind arising from or in connection with the
contest
or any prize won, any misuse or malfunction of
any prize awarded, participation in any contest-related
activity, or participation in the contest. Entry
names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation.
For the names of the 3 first prize winners, available
after January 5, 2008, please send a stamped,
self-addressed
