Take a walk with your little one and point out some of the sounds you hear along the way—ice cream trucks playing melodies, airplanes roaring, birds chirping, church bells ringing, or children laughing. Now ask your child to make some of these noises. Explain the difference between hearing a sound and making a sound.

You can use household objects to create engaging games with your toddler. For example use pots and pans to strike up the band, add a mixing spoon, or let your child pretend to create a specialty dish.

Noise Anxiety

A balloon pops. A vacuum is turned on. A lawn mower rumbles in the distance. Some noises can be unsettling to a toddler. But you can give a frightened child a measure of control by explaining where the noise comes from and suggesting that your child cover their ears if the sound is too loud.

Thomas the Tank Engine’s Sounds will put your child right on track about outdoor sounds as Thomas travels through the town.

Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? will persuade you and your child to moo, buzz, pop, klopp, and a whole lot more!
