Official Contest Rules & Regulations

I. HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter by drawing a picture of your monster on a piece of paper and printing your full name, address, phone number, date of birth on the back, and mail to "Monsters, Inc. Sleepover Party contest" Contest, Random House Children's Marketing Department, 1540 Broadway, 23th floor, New York, NY 10036. Entries must be mailed separately and received by Random House no later than January 15, 2002. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. Partially completed or illegible entries will not be accepted. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, stolen, postage due, incomplete or misdirected entries. All entries become the property of Random House and will not be returned, so please keep a copy for your records.

II. ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to legal residents of the United States, excluding the state of Arizona and Puerto Rico, including legal residents of Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec who are between the ages of 2 and 12 as of January 1, 2001. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc., Disney, and their parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and their immediate families, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this Contest.

III. PRIZES
One Grand Prize Winner will win a " Monsters, Inc. Sleepover Party kit " )Approximate Retail Value: $1175.00.) Ten First Prizes: Each Prize is a set of Monsters, Inc. books from Random House (Approximate retail value: $105.00 U.S.). If for any reason prizes are not available or cannot be fulfilled, Random House Inc. and Disney reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, including, but not limited to, cash equivalent. Taxes, if any, are the Winners' sole responsibility. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be assigned. No prize or cash substitutes allowed, except at the discretion of the sponsor as set forth above.

IV. WINNERS
One Grand Prize Winner and three First Prize Winners will be chosen on or about January 15, 2002 from all eligible entries received within the entry deadline by the Random House Children's Books Marketing Department. The contest will be judged by staff of Random House Children's Books Marketing Department , whose decisions are final, and the prizes will be awarded on the basis of originality and creativity. The Grand Prize Winner will win a "Monsters, Inc. Sleepover Party" and the ten First Prize Winners will each win a Complete set of Monsters, Inc. books from Random House. The prizes will be awarded in the name of the Winner's parent or legal guardian. Winners' parent or legal guardian will be notified by mail and Winner's parent/legal guardian will be required to sign and return affidavit(s) of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. A noncompliance within that time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.

V. RESERVATIONS
By participating, Winners (and Winners' parents/legal guardians) agree that Random House, Disney, and Hallmark, Spin Master Toys, WestPoint Stevens, and their parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by Winner (and Winner's parent/legal guardian) for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or participation in this Contest. By entering the Contest Winner's parent or legal guardian consents to the use of the Winner's name, likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House and Disney with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). Other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the names of the winners, available after January 31, 2002, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Random House, Monster Sleepover Party Contest, 1540 Broadway-23rd Floor, New York, NY 10036. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return postage.
