I.
HOW TO ENTER
NO
PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter by printing your name, address, phone
number, date of birth, and a description of your mystery and how
you solved it (500 words or less) on an 81/2" x 11" piece of paper.
Attach any evidence (i.e., photographs or drawings) to your entry
and mail to: Alphabet Zweepstakes Contest, Random House Marketing
Department, 1540 Broadway, 19th floor, New York, NY 10036. Contest
ends May 15, 2001. All entries must be received no later than 5
p.m. EDT. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.
II.
ELIGIBILITY
Contest
is open to residents of the United States, excluding the state of
Florida, who are between the ages of 5 and 10 as of May 15, 2001.
All federal, state, and local regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited
or restricted by law. Employees of Random House, Inc., its parent,
subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their immediate family members
and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter
this contest. Random House is not responsible for lost, stolen,
illegible, incomplete, postage-due, or misdirected entries.
III.
PRIZES
Grand
Prize (1)
One
winner will receive a brand-new camera (approximate retail value:
$250 U.S.); lunch with Ron Roy (subject to his availability); a
set of A to Z Mysteries, including a signed copy of The Missing
Mummy; and an official framed Super-Sleuth Certificate signed by
Ron Roy.
Second
Prize (10)
Ten
second-place winners will receive a set of A to Z Mysteries, including
a signed copy of The Missing Mummy.
All
entrants will receive a Super-Sleuth Certificate signed by Ron Roy.
Approximate
total retail value of prizes: $1,500 U.S.
IV.
WINNERS
Winners
will be chosen on or about June 1, 2001, from all eligible entries
received within the entry deadline by the Random House Marketing
Department. Entries will be judged by Random House staff based on
originality and creativity. All prizes will be awarded in the name
of the winner. Winners will be notified by mail on or about June
15, 2001. Taxes, if any, are the winnerÕs sole responsibility. RANDOM
HOUSE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL VALUE IF
PRIZES, AS STATED ABOVE, BECOME UNAVAILABLE. Winner (or winnerÕs
legal guardian) will be required to execute and return affidavits
of eligibility and release within 14 days of notification. A noncompliance
within that time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable
will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate
winner. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions,
prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.
V.
RESERVATIONS
Entering
the contest constitutes consent of the use of the winnerÕs name,
likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes
on behalf of Random House, Inc., with no additional compensation
or further permission (except where prohibited by law). Other entry
names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the
names of the first- and second-place winners, available after June
15, 2001, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Random
House, Alphabet Zweepstakes Contest Winners, 1540 Broadway, 19th
floor, New York, NY 10036. Washington and Vermont residents may
omit return postage.
