Akiko and the Great Wall of Trudd
Mark Crilley; illustrated by the Author

Start thinking:
In Akiko and the Great
Wall of Trudd, Akiko explains that she feels important. "I knew
that Spuckler, Mr. Beeba, Gax, and even Poog . . . I knew they
all needed me for some reason." How do you think Akiko is important
to the mission? What is her most crucial contribution to the mission?
How has her sense of leadership and responsibility changed as
she's traveled from Earth to her mission on Planet Smoo? When
Akiko returns to Earth what do you think she will have learned
about responsibility? Explain your answer.
When you first read about the character, Throck, in Akiko and
the Great Wall of Trudd, what was your opinion of him? Who do
you think Throck is and why do you think he is so determined to
defend the castle of Alia Rellapor?
Even though the crew sees the warning signs telling them to turn
around and head away from the castle of Alia Rellapor in Akiko
and the Great Wall of Trudd, what keeps them from turning back?
Akiko seems a bit nervous to eat the food that Yabby prepares
at first because it seems so strange and looks different from
what she normally eats, but the smell and the taste of the food
finally win her over. Describe a time when you didn't feel like
eating a food because it looked or smelled strange. Did you end
up eating it anyway? If so, were you glad that you tried something
new or wished you hadn't touched it?
At the end of Akiko and the Great Wall of Trudd, what do you think
will happen to the crew when they reach the Castle of Allia Rellapor?
Do you think they will encounter Throck again when they reach
the castle? Explain.
