In Akiko on the Planet Smoo, why does Akiko not tell the King and Mr. Beeba right away that she has not rescued many people? Why do you think that Akiko is chosen by the King to rescue the prince?

If you were given the opportunity to fly to another planet to live out an adventure even though it involved some danger as well, would you go? Why or why not?

On page 161 of Akiko and the Planet Smoo, Mr. Beeba and Spuckler declare that Akiko is a "born leader." What qualities make Akiko a good leader? In your opinion, what characteristics make a good leader?

Describe each character: Poog, Spuckler, Mr. Beeba, Gax, Poog, and Akiko. What qualities do you think each character adds to the mission? If you had to choose one character with whom to be stranded on a desert island, who would you choose and why?
