picture books available at affordable prices.
Priced at just 25 cents and sold not only in
bookstores, but also in drug stores and grocery
chains, good books were available for the first
time to almost all children, not just the privileged
few. More than 60 years later, many of the original
Golden Book titles are still wildly popular.
Tootle, The Saggy Baggy Elephant, and Scuffy
the Tugboat are among the top 10 bestselling
children’s books of all time, with The
Poky Little Puppy leading the list at number
one. (Publishers Weekly, 2001)

many of the classic titles, Golden Books continues
to handpick the best of the backlist and reissue
these books in both the traditional Little Golden
Book format, as well as in deluxe, jacketed
hardcover editions.
