book cover RHI: Reaching Reluctant Readers

Random House, Inc. is delighted to premier its free magazine for middle- and high-school educators: RHI.

The topic of the first issue is one that is of ever-increasing importance, especially in light of "No Child Left Behind" legislation: how educators can employ new and different strategies in reaching reluctant readers. The magazine features Teacher's Guides written by nationally-renowned educators; interesting articles by Random House authors such as Billy Collins, Terry Brooks, Firoozeh Dumas, and Brian Strause; and insightful pieces by Random House editors and staff working on the front-lines of new and inventive media of high interest to young readers. An order form is included and may be used to request exam copies of the featured titles.

We've also launched a website dedicated to RHI.

If you would like to receive a complimentary, printed copy of the magazine, please email us.

Paramount Pictures, Broadway Books/Random House, Inc., and NCTE are proud to invite you to an advanced screening of the forthcoming (January 2007) film The Freedom Writers, starring Hilary Swank.

Based on The Freedom Writers Diary, a book written by Erin Gruwell and her high school students, the film tells the true story of a dedicated California teacher who finds a way to unify her disadvantaged, racially divided students and to improve their grasp of academics, partly by having them keep journals about their violent, troubled lives.

To get your exclusive pass to this exciting event visit the Random House Booth (#101/103) in the Exhibit Hall. Limit one ticket per person.

When?: Saturday 11/18 at 8:00 pm
Where?: Regal Opry Mills IMAX
