Creative Writing Competition, in collaboration with the Bertelsmann Foundation's World of Expression Scholarship Program, awarded more than $75,000 in scholarships to public high school students for original poetry/spoken word, memoir, fiction and drama compositions.
Melanie Fallon-Houska, Director of the Random House, Inc. Creative Writing Competition and World of Expression Program said, "The entries and winners are as diverse as the city they represent. My Random House, Inc. colleagues and I are proud of their accomplishments and inspired by their creativity."
This year, more than 1,200 entries were received from a diverse number of New York City public high schools. Among the judges who lent their time to this program include celebrated poet and Random House author Billy Collins; Executive Director of the National Book Foundation Harold Augenbaum; and Random House Chairman & CEO Peter Olson.
