SPY FACT OF THE DAY
Dog Drag

Device developed by the U.S. Office of Strategic Services during World War II that released a "persistent aromatic scent" when dragged behind an agent to throw dogs off the scent of the agent during a chase. The British employed a hot-pepper device, but it burned the dogs' nostrils and thus revealed that the agent was being followed.
