About the AuthorAlice Borchardt shared a childhood of storytelling with her sister, Anne Rice, in New Orleans. A professional nurse, she has also nurtured a profound interest in little-known periods of history. She published her debut novel, Devoted, in 1995. She lives in Houston.About The Silver Wolf, she says: The wolf and I have been moving toward a rendezvous all my life. There are ideas that live in the deepest part of the mind and lure any creative thinker from beyond all considerations of reason into the dark forest of imagination and madness. So is The Silver Wolf. I knew from the first moment I encountered her, a beautiful caged creature struggling for freedom, that I must tell her story. She leaps out of the beauty of the world, the adventure of existence itself. The best and most joyous of all possible worlds for a writer is a compulsion to write--the wild and wonderful privilege of being chosen by the creator spirit as a conduit for the adventure of expression. I lived Regeane's journey. Lived it first. And even though writing a book is hard work, the visitation of my magnificent woman/wolf has made me happier than you can possibly imagine. When I was a child, my sisters would come to me and shout, "Tell us a story." I told so many stories they sometimes got me into trouble. But since I've been disguising them as fiction, I've become a bit more respectable. Those of us who can see into the other world from time to time have occasional difficulties with those who can't and don't. The Silver Wolf is for those who can look into another world and live, if only for a short time, in images and dreams. So, friends, come, let me tell you a story.
