Many problems with Shockwave typically occur because either your browser or its disk cache doesn't have enough memory allocated to it. Problems can occur in many forms, e.g., getting error messages while playing, or having the game lock up.
FOR BOTH WINDOWS AND MACS:
Check your browser's disk cache and make sure that it is set to 10MB. Clear the disk cache, exit your browser
and restart.
Make sure your monitor is set to display 256 colors (8 bit).
Quit all other applications, virus protection and screensaver programs before you start your browser.
Make sure you have a minimum of 460KB of conventional memory free before starting Windows.
For Macintosh:
Increase the memory allocated to your browser by highlighting
the browser's application icon, and using Command-I. Under preferred memory, increase
the Preferred size to at least 8000.
Disable Speed Doubler, Speed Copy and Ram Doubler.
If you are on a PowerMac, turn off Virtual Memory.
