George was big. He had shoulders probably wider than any center
currently playing in the NBA. It's
just a good thing George Mikan
had a good nature because everybody tried to pressure him and
get him out of his position around the basket. But he had tremendous
desire to excel. He was a great rebounder as well. I think he
could have played today.
Harry "The Horse" Gallatin averaged 10 or more rebounds a game during 9 of his 10 NBA seasons from 1948 to 1957-58.
