[INSTRUCTIONS: Search the acrostic for the next word. It will either be at the end or branch off from the ampersand (&). When you find one, click on its first letter. If it's right, the word will reappear, circled. Search for the word after that, and so on. There are dead ends and false messages--if you start down a dead end, the entire dead-end message will be revealed for you. when you find the next word of the real message, the remaining dead-end messages will be revealed, too. If you click on a letter that's not part of a real or false message, the graphic will reappear with no changes.

If and when you arrive at the end of the real message, clicking on the last letter will take you to the rest of the excerpt, where you can see how Ariel figured it out. You can get hints at any point and return to this page when you've learned enough to continue on your own.]
