Some of my readers are going to ask, "What's he doing in Africa?" wondering what led me to open PAGAN BABIES in Rwanda, of all places. Well, I did set a book in Cuba, half of a book in Italy, and opened another in the Dominican Republic. (Shame on you if those settings don't sound familiar; it means you haven't read the books.) Now Rwanda because I became fascinated with the idea of one of my characters witnessing the mass murder that took place there not so long ago. Soon enough the plot moves to Detroit, but it's Rwanda that sets the stage for the con games that take place in what has become my hometown.
