Thank you for stopping by my Web site. I’d
like to tell you that I have worked for many, many hours setting
this up, that I struggled getting everything just right—the
graphics, the links, the text. I’d like to tell you
that, but it would be a big fat lie!
What really happened is that some very talented
people at Random House have done all of this, and I don’t
know about you, but I am very impressed!
This is a great time for this site to be coming
out. I’ve had quite a few irons in the fire lately and I can’t
think of a better way to share them with you.
My most recent book is Mr.
Chickee’s Funny Money, a novel I had a lot of fun
writing. It’s silly, it’s short, and it tells things about
the U.S. Constitution and James Brown that I’ll bet you never
knew before.
Eventually I’ll post what I call “Lost Chapters.”
These are parts of The Watsons
Go to Birmingham–1963; Bud,
Not Budd; and Bucking
the Sarge that for some reason or another didn’t
make the final cut. Reading them is like finding an old picture
of a friend that you’d never seen before.
Have fun here and keep coming back for more
updates about my new books and events. I’d like to tell you
that I’ll be doing frequent updates of this site. I’d like
to tell you that, but once again it would be a lie—those aforementioned
talented people will be completely responsible!
