The time is the present. The place is the New Hampshire town of
Blackstone, a peaceful picture postcard village with a shattering, painful
past. For here, high on North Hill stands the old Blackstone Asylum, once
the home of the deranged, the unmanageable, and the merely inconvenient.
Long abandoned, the building is scheduled for demolition. Yet something
halts those plans--and a terrible evil, once locked within its formidable
stone walls, lurches into the night. Its horrifying power takes on many
forms: appearing as seemingly harmless gifts, mysteriously delivered to
