John Saul Fan Club Expose

Reporters at this newspaper have uncovered the true story of the John Saul Fan Club, a not-so-secret organization of rabid readers across the country and the world. Here's what we found out.

Members of The John Saul Fan Club receive information about John, early notifications of publications, and an annual newsletter.

The club was started in 1992 by Bantam Books because so many of John's fans wanted information about him. The response was immediate. The Fan Club grew in leaps and bounds and by 1995, over 8,100 people were active members in the U.S. with 500 in 23 countries (Australia, Belgium, British West Indies, Canada, England, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Namibia, New Zealand, Panama, Phillippines, South Africa, Singapore, Spain, Ukraine, and the Virgin Islands).

In 1993 the Fan Club was moved to Seattle, where hired personnel handle the day-to-day activities. Requests to join the John Saul Fan Club come in at the rate of about 400 a week for three months after the publication of a new book and run about 100 a week through the rest of the year. Visit the John Saul Web site to find out more and join the Fan Club.
