Strange Lands Correspondent Contest
HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
Enter by printing your name, date of birth, your parent’s/guardian’s
name (if contestant is under 18), full address, and phone number
on either an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper or an online print-out entry
form available at www.ameliaatwaterrhodes.com/contest and provide
10 questions that you would ask Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Also include
(in 200 words or less) why you think you would make a great Strange
Lands Correspondent. Mail to Strange Lands Correspondent Contest,
Random House Children’s Books, Marketing Department, 1745
Broadway, MD: 10-4, New York, NY 10019. Entries must be mailed separately
and received by Random House between August 15, 2007 and January
15, 2008 (“Entry Deadline”). LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER FAMILY.
Partially completed or illegible entries will not be accepted. Sponsors
will not be responsible for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, stolen,
postage due, incomplete or misdirected entries. All entries become
the property of Random House and will not be returned, so please
keep a copy for your records.
ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States
and the District of Columbia, and Canada, excluding the Province
of Quebec, who are between the ages of 11 and up on August 15, 2007.
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever
prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc and
its parent companies, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising,
promotion, and fulfillment agencies; their immediate family members,
and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter
this Contest.
PRIZE
There will be one (1) Grand Prize Winner selected. One Grand Prize
Winner will win roundtrip coach airfare for him or herself plus
one travel companion (total of two people) to New York City, including
a hotel stay for 2 nights (one room), ground transportation to and
from the airport, lunch with Amelia Atwater-Rhodes; in the event
the Winner is under the age of 18, the second companion has to be
the Winner’s parent or legal guardian; estimated value of
the prize is $2500, actual retail value will vary depending on the
winner’s city of departure. No other expenses included. Travel
and use of accommodation are at risk of Winner, Winner's parent/legal
guardian and travel companions and Random House Inc. does not assume
any liability. If for any reason prize is not available or cannot
be fulfilled, Random House Inc. reserves the right to substitute
a prize of equal or greater value, including, but not limited to,
cash equivalent. All federal, state, and local taxes, if any, are
the Winner's full and sole responsibility. Prizes are not transferable
and cannot be assigned. No prize or cash substitutes allowed, except
at the discretion of the sponsor as set forth above. The winning
interview will be recorded at the New York City Comic-Con Convention
by Random House staff, posted on Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ web
site at www.ameliaatwaterrhodes.com, and included in a future issue
of the Strange Lands Newsletter.
WINNERS
Potential Winners will be chosen on or around February 15, 2008,
from all eligible entries received by the Random House Marketing
Department within the Entry Deadline. Entries will be judged by
the Random House Marketing Department staff, whose decisions are
final, and the prize will be awarded on the basis of originality,
journalistic substance, and creativity. If Winner is under the age
of 18, the prize will be awarded in the name of the winner's parent
or legal guardian. Winner or Winner’s parent or legal guardian
will be notified by mail on or about March 1, 2008. Winner and Winner’s
parent/legal guardian (if winner is under 18) or the travel companion
will be required to sign and return affidavit(s) of eligibility
and release of liability within 14 days of notification. Any noncompliance
with the 14-day time period or the return of any notification as
undeliverable may result in disqualification and the selection of
an alternate winner by sponsor. In the event of any other noncompliance
with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate
winner.
RESERVATIONS
By participating, participants and winner (and winner’s parent/legal
guardian) agree that Random House, Inc., and its parent companies,
assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, advertising, promotion, fulfillment
agencies, and suppliers will have no liability whatsoever, and will
be held harmless by participants and winners (and participants’
and winner’s parent/legal guardian) for any liability for
any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including
death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly,
from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or
participation in this contest. By entering the Contest the Winner
and the Winner’s parent or legal guardian consents to the
use of the Winner’s name, likeness, and biographical data
as well as his/her interview with Atwater-Rhodes for publicity and
promotional purposes on behalf of Random House, Inc. with no additional
compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law).
All other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation.
For the name of the winner, available after February 7, 2008, please
send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Random House, Strange
Lands Correspondent Contest Winner, 1745 Broadway. MD: 10-2, New
York, NY 10019. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return
postage.
