Forum Thank you for a wonderful book. I am going to buy two copies and share them with my friends!
So much of what you say is so true. I'm finding the more I keep my mouth shut the better! My 27-year-old daughter has a mother-in-law I cannot stand. My daughter thinks she's great. It hurts and I let her know it. The woman was extremely rude to me at my daughter’s wedding. I won't bore you with the details. The whole issue has been terrible for both of us. My daughter has been put in the middle. After a three-hour talk we finally came to an agreement. I could not bear to lose my daughter and new granddaughter over that woman. My husband and I have adjusted and will visit when we can. We realize that she will have to find out for herself, hopefully not in too bad a way. I have set limits with her about speeches about how much the women does for her, “Dear I will not engage in a pissing contest with her so stop telling me about all she does for you. Dad and I love you and will do what we can afford for your family." I will not warn her or make comments about the women. Our relationship has been back on a more even keel since our talk. It's not easy but much less heart wrenching. << RETURN TO FULL POST LIST
