I haven't made it through the whole book yet, but it has already become my new bible and survival guide. My son deploys with the U.S. Marine Corp in a few days. After my 20 year old son shared with me that he does not want me to come down to see him off because that is his new wife's job, I knew I needed to gain some insight into what was going on for him and me. I had seen mention of Walking on Eggshells in Oprah Magazine and had tucked the article in my purse. Yesterday in between the blurring tears I went down and purchased the book. Before reading your book I had assumed that all my emotional pain surrounding my son's pulling away had to do with the looming deployment and fear of sending my son off to war. I now understand that it is much more than that for both of us.
