Official Contest Rules & Regulations

Contest runs from 12:00:01 A.M. ET on August 7, 2006 to 11:59:59 P.M. ET on November 6, 2006.

I. HOW TO ENTER NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

To enter, visit www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/immortalgame/contest.html. Fill out all the submission fields. When your entry (including your name, email address, address and age) is complete, click the area marked “Submit Entry” (once submitted, entry cannot be deleted, cancelled or modified). All those entrants who have successfully answered the questions will be entered into the contest. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. If multiple entries are received from any person in violation of these rules, all such entries will be disqualified. All entries must be received by 11:59:59 P.M. ET on August 7, 2006. In the event of a dispute about entries submitted by multiple individuals using the same e-mail account, entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account used to enter the contest at the actual time of entry. The authorized e-mail account subscriber is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programmed, or any other automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified. Random House, Inc. is not responsible for lost, interrupted, garbled, or jumbled entries or transmissions, or unavailable network, server, or other connections, or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, or electronic. All entries become the property of Random House, Inc. and will not be acknowledged or returned.

II. ELIGIBILITY

Contest is open to all legal residents of the United States who are over the age of 18 on 11:59:59 P.M. ET on August 7, 2006. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc., its parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, and their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this contest.

III. PRIZES

Potential winners will be selected on or about November 13, 2006, by random drawing from all entries received. One Winner will receive a (1): "Lewis Chessman" chess set. Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $175.00 US. The prize will be awarded assuming a sufficient eligible entry is received. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.

IV. WINNERS

One Winner will be chosen at random on or about November 13, 2006 from all eligible entries received by Random House, Inc.. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. The Winner will be notified by e-mail on or about November 14, 2006, and their mailing address will be used by Random House, Inc. solely for the purpose of delivering the prize. In the event of noncompliance, if a winner cannot be reached at the e-mail or mailing address on that winner’s entry, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or is undeliverable for whatever reason beyond the control of Sponsor, that prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. Taxes, if any, are the Winner's sole responsibility. RANDOM HOUSE, INC. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE IF PRIZES, AS STATED ABOVE, BECOME UNAVAILABLE.

V. ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS

By participating, the Winner agrees that Random House, its parent company, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by the Winner (and the Winner's parent/legal guardian) for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prize, or participation in this contest. By entering the contest, the Winner consents to the use of the Winner's name, likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House Inc. with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law).
