In an ancient world where armies of the four elements—fire, earth, water, and air—are constantly at war, the Avatar, a master of the elements, is meant to restore peace and order. Aang is the newest reincarnation of the Avatar, and is also the last airbender, harnessing the power of air and wind. BAKUGAN BATTLE BRAWLERS
We have an original manga based on Cartoon Network's Bakugan. Not sure what Bakugan is? Think Pokemon, but more awesome.
One day, cards began to fall from the sky and were picked up by kids all over the world. The cards featured different characters, different environments, and different powers. Kids created a popular battle game, not knowing that these cards actually corresponded to an alternate world called Vestroia—and that their game actually controls the fate of the universe! |

Coming next spring, we have an original manga based on Cartoon Network's animated series Ben 10.

Ben and his friends saw it first: an alien ship crashing to Earth. But when they race to the crash site, they find a force greater than any the teen heroes have ever reckoned with: The ship blasts Ben seemingly out of existence.
Now Gwen and Kevin have to come to terms with what they think is the loss of their beloved friend... but they don't know what really happened. The ship transported Ben to an alternate world, the Fourth Dimension, where nothing is quite what it seems—not even time and space! But Ben's not alone in this strange world: He's trapped there with the ship's pilot, an alien bounty hunter who's been searching for the legendary Ben 10. Now Ben has to stay one step ahead of his pursuer, escape from the Fourth Dimension... and return home to Gwen and Kevin! |

The only force capable of stopping the Dark Bring are the Rave stones. Unfortunately, the Rave stones were scattered around the world in a huge explosion 50 years ago. DEL REY MANGA TURNS 5
Del Rey Manga celebrated its five-year anniversary during the New York Anime Festival with a party at Dave & Busters, complete with a manga-theme cake from Charm City Cakes, the bakery of Ace of Cakes fame (on the Food Network). Our fearless leader Dallas Middaugh cut the cake the way we at Del Rey Manga cut things: with a samurai sword. Please note that we at Del Rey Manga do not advocate cutting anything with samurai swords. They are sharp, dangerous, and in the wrong hands, can cause catastrophic damage. That being said, check out pictures and video here!
WE ARE IN YOUR INTERNETS
See proof that Del Rey Manga is made up of real people, some of whom can get really nervous (see my interview with Anime Vice). Here are some choice links from around the web that feature our illustrious marketing manager Ali, me, and just for fun, Duff Goldberg (Charm City Cakes) illustrating why we don't recommend using samurai swords.
LIBRARIANS KNOW BEST
The Young Adult Library Services Association included several of our titles in their 2009 Great Graphic Novels for Teens list! Moyasimon, Wolverine: Prodigal Son, Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei, Yokaiden, and X-Men: Misfits, are among the titles they chose to include on their excellent list. Click here to see the full list of excellent graphic novel recommendations.

|
MOYASIMON
You might think that life at an agricultural university in Japan isn't exactly exciting. But Tadayasu, a student, sees the world differently from you and me: He has the unique ability to see—and communicate with—bacteria and micro-organisms, who appear to him as super-cute little creatures! |
|
FOUR-EYED PRINCE
Sachiko is in high school—and madly in love. The object of her affection is a kind, serious, studious boy—the kind of sweet, smart guy who looks extra-cute in glasses! But it turns out that there's more to this guy than meets the eye: By day, he's a cute nerd, but by night, he's a host at a nightclub where he entertains older ladies! Is this guy Sachiko's dream... or her nightmare? |
Send your emails to delreymanga@randomhouse.com with either Moyasimon or Four-Eyed Prince in the subject line, including your full name and address in the body of the e-mail (NOTE: you personal information will not be used for any purpose other than this contest).
