Official Contest Rules
1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
2. Enter by completing the scavenger hunt and answering the Ultimate Question. The question form must be filled out completely and include all required contact information that Sponsor may use for sole purposes of prize notification and delivery. Entries are limited to one per person. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, or other connections, miscommunications, failed phone or computer hardware or software telephone transmissions or technical failures, garbled or jumbled transmissions, or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic. Entries must be received by no late than 11:59 Pacific Time on the last day of each month in which this sweepstakes is being held (see Rule #3 below) and only the participants who answer the question correctly will be eligible for the drawing.
3. One (1) Limited edition copy of LEGEND II will be awarded to five participants who answered the Ultimate Question correctly and entered by the deadline (Midnight, February 20, 2004). Twenty-five runners-up will receive a regular hardcover edition of LEGENDS II. Winners will be randomly chose from all correct entries received by Midnight, February 20, 2004. Estimated value of each Prize: LEGENDS II: LIMITED EDITION - retail value: $150.00, LEGENDS II - retail value: $28.95. No transfer or substitution of the prize will be permitted.
4. Within seven (7) days of the promotions deadline, thirty (30) winners (5 - who will receive one copy of LEGENDS II: LIMITED EDITION and 25 - who will receive one copy of LEGENDS II hardcover edition) will be chosen in a random drawing conducted by the Sponsor from all eligible, completed and correct entries received by the entry deadline. Winners will be notified by email and will receive aforementioned prize via regular United States postal service. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
5. Sweepstakes is open to residents of the United States, 18 years of age or older. Void in Puerto Rico and where otherwise prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local regulations apply. Employees of Random House, Inc., its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers and agencies and their immediate family members and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this Sweepstakes. All federal and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner.
6. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decision of the judges, which shall be final. By entering, participants release Random House, Inc., and their parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers and agents from any and all liability for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, possession, or use/misuse of a Prize or participation in any prize-related activities. Where permitted by law, by accepting Prize, all winners grant permission for the use of their respective name, hometown, likeness, photograph and statements by Sponsor for advertising/publicity purposes without further compensation.
