Welcome to the February issue of Potter Craft News!

Brrr. Just when everyone thought bitter cold winter weather was a thing of the past, we get hit with a cold spell. The snap caused many of us to dig out our winter wear and rethink our wardrobes. For me, it came just in time, too. Piled in the hall on the way to the Salvation Army were my old winter clothes. I thought I’d never wear them again. Some clothes may still end up with someone else, but why was I going to toss the jeans? What was I thinking? I’m going to retool them and make them into something incredible. Check out the ideas yourself from 99 Ways to Cut, Sew & Deck Out Your Denim from the ladies of Compai Design — recycling never looked so good.

Last week was New York Fashion Week as well. Wenlan Chia's Fall 2007 show on Sunday got rave reviews. She’s especially known for her knitwear, and she didn’t disappoint anyone. This season, however, the fashion press gave a big nod to Wenlan’s needle skills and to those of us who prefer to do it ourselves. A hearty congratulations to our friends at Twinkle!

Happy crafting!

Here’s a tip on necklace design from Nancy Alden from her book Simply Pearls.

“Pearls can be either the frame for the centerpiece or the centerpiece itself. Large pearls beg to be at center stage, but in a good design, you can also effectively use a cluster of little pearls or even a single medium-size pearl."
