Welcome to the December issue of Potter Craft News!
December is a busy month at Potter Craft and our sister imprints, Clarkson Potter and Potter Style. Gearing up for the holiday season usually means an extra dose of working hard and playing hard—working hard on our books and playing hard at holiday parties. One of the most anticipated holiday events in “Potterland” is our very own office gathering. Yes, it’s true, there is such a thing as a fun office party!
A few years ago, the editors at Clarkson Potter reinvented the Secret Santa gift exchange by specifying that all gifts must be handmade. What no one knew at the time was that the best part is guessing who made each gift. This fun ritual has given us a chance to discover our colleagues' hidden talents and has even broadened our definition of handmade — we’ve seen decadent pastries, flavored cooking oils, delicately woven chenille scarves, jewelry, and even mix tapes.
Over the years we’ve delighted in the opportunity that both the giving and the receiving have brought us, and we hope Potter Craft’s books will help guide you in your own gift-giving adventures.
From everyone at Potter Craft, we wish you a wonderful handmade holiday!

Saturday Night Hat
By Eugenia Kim
Milliner-to-the-stars Eugenia Kim offers more than 20 quick-to-make hat projects that are stylish, sassy, and perfect to wear out for a Saturday night on the town. Eugenia’s design philosophy focuses on improvisation— most of the materials needed to create the hats are readily found everyday items. Each project can be completed in a couple of hours, and some are simple enough to finish in the course of a Saturday afternoon—to wear out that night. |
