Corrections to Knitting and Tea by Jane and Patrick Gottelier

We make every effort to provide accurate patterns and helpful information to our readers. The following corrections are for the patterns found in Knitting and Tea. The corrections are listed by pattern, page number, and row number. Large areas of red highlighted text indicate a revision in instructions. We hope you will find this useful! Ceylon Cardi:
p14, column 2, 2nd paragraph, should read: Rejoin yarn to remaining stitches, bind off central 30(30, 36, 36, 36, 36) stitches, knit to end.
Row 1: bind off 9(9, 10, 11, 11, 12) stitches, p to last 2 stitches, p2tog.
Row 2: k2tog, k to end.
Row 3: bind off 9(9, 10, 11, 11, 12) stitches, p to end
Row 4: knit
Row 5: bind off remaining 9(9, 10, 11, 11, 11) stitches.

P16, column 2, 1st paragraph: 'Row 3' should be ‘First decrease row’, and then the following First and Second decrease rows are actually second and third decrease rows.

Boy's Fair Isle Planter’s Vest:
p14, column 2, 2nd paragraph, should read: Rejoin yarn to remaining stitches, bind off central 30(30, 36, 36, 36, 36) stitches, knit to end.

p21, column 1, second ‘next row’ 5 lines up:
‘Decrease 0(1, 1, 1) stitches’ not needed.

p21, column 2, third ‘next row’ 12 lines down: As above, decreases not needed.

Flowerdew Evening Tank:
p25, column 2. Final stitch count should be 3 stitches, not 2.

p26, column 1. Size medium should read ‘bind off central 42 stitches’, and size large should read ‘bind off central 45 stitches’

Cricket Blazer:
p45, column 1, first paragraph (size medium) should finish: Then 4 stitches at the beginning of the next 4 RS rows, bind off the remaining 5 stitches. The same alteration on p46, column 1, last sentence of size medium.

Cricket Sweater:
p52, column 2: there is a stray, spare comma in line 1 of the medium size, and a full stop instead of a comma in line 1 of the small size at the bottom of the page. Size Small, rows 1, 3 and 5 should start and end k2 instead of k1.

p54, column 2, sleeves. Next (increase) row should read: Next (increase) row: k2, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k2, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k1, kfb, kfb, k1, p4, k2, p4, k1, kfb, kfb, k1, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k2, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k1, kfb, kfb, k1, p4, k2, p4, k1, kfb, kfb, k1, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k2, p1, m1, p2, m1, p1, k2. 90 stitches.

p55, Neckband, should read: 70(74, 74, 74) stitches across back neck, 160(164, 164, 164) stitches.

Somerset Cable Sweater:
It turns out that in knitting the central cable (Chart C), the 6 cables were reversed. Please use the new version of Chart C instead.

p57, column 1, XX-Large, Rows 1 and 2 written out:
Row 1: (k1, p1) 7 times, k1, k1tbl, p2….
Row 2: (k1, p1) 7 times, k1, p1tbl, k2….
column 2, paragraph 2, stitch counts in brackets should read:
until there are 118(130:144:158:182), and:
until there are 136(144:158:172:196)
column 2, Large armhole shaping should read: Bind off 4 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, 2 stitches on the next 2 rows'

p58, column 2, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large rows 1 and 2 written out:

Bind off 4 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, 2 stitches on the next 2 rows and the final stitch count should read 136 stitches.

p59, column 2, front neck shaping should read:
Work even until armholes match front armholes to beginning of shoulder shaping, with the right side facing. Bind off 11(12, 14, 14, 14) stitches at the beginning of the next row, pattern 23(26: 29: 29: 29), turn. 24(27: 30: 30: 30) stitches on the needle
Next row: p2tog, pattern to the end.
Next row: Bind off 11(12, 14, 14, 14) stitches, pattern to the last 2 stitches, k2tog.
Next row: p2tog, pattern to the end.
Next row: Bind off the remaining stitches. Rejoin yarn to the remaining stitches with the right side of the work facing, bind off the central 48(50: 48: 48: 50) stitches, pattern to the end of the row.

Garden Jacket
p71, X-Large and XX-Large armhole decreases, the final sentence should read: Bind off 1 stitch at the beginning of the following 10(12) rows.

p72, column 2, first paragraph, last sentence should read: …and 1 on the next 1(2, 0, 2, 4, 6) right-side rows and the same alteration needs to made on p73, column 2, 11 lines down.

P76, column 1, 5 lines up from the bottom, the word ‘needles’ is missing after ‘size 3, (3.25mm)’.

Summerhouse Sweater
p79, column 1, 5 and 6 lines up from the bottom, central stitch count should read: 67(69, 67, 79, 79, 81) stitches

p81, column 2, Neckband, last two stitch counts should read: 67(69, 77, 79, 79, 81) stitches from back neck. 210(220, 228, 238, 238, 244) stitches.

Cupcake Cardigan
p91, column 2, 5 lines down, stitch count should read: 33(33, 35, 35, 35, 37)

Builder’s Cable Sweater
p109, column 1, 6 lines down, Medium increase row should read: *Pattern 5, m1p, pattern 4, m1p, repeat from * to the last 5 stitches, pattern 5. 148 stitches.

15 rows down, Rows 1 and 2 of Small size should start and end: (k1, p1) 6 times, k1, ……. (k1, p1) 6 times, k1, to give 13 stitches of seed stitch, not 10.

Cozy Capelet
p125, column 1, 12 lines down should read: Bind off 7(10, 13) stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows,…(not 3)

Snug Hooded Wrap
p131, pocket tops (left and right) should read: 'Using size 6 circular needle, knit across the 30 stitches held for the pocket top, decreasing 9 stitches across the large central cable: K2tog 9 times, k12. 21 stitches.
