‘The subheading of this set of sub-tarot oracle cards just about says it all, ‘52 Cards to Help You Manifest Gratitude, Abundance and Success’ and they may well do, but even if they do not, they are hauntingly beautiful pieces of artwork in their own right. What the deck (which includes an extremely well written and useful guidebook) is all about, is attracting positive energy from the universe, a variation on ‘cosmic ordering’ in fact, a process much beloved of the TV presenter Noel Edmunds. The author is a professional astrologer who teaches at the London School of Astrology and this shows in the non-technical way in which the included guide book is laid out, because without it the would-be seeker is left with a set of pretty picture cards. One rather clever feature is the box that the cards and book come in, this can be folded to serve a kind of easel to hold the cards while the reader meditates on the images: nifty! Actually the way in which the process of using the cards, i.e. the visualisation and meditation techniques to initiate the ‘Law of Attraction’ is used, has much in common with both sympathetic magic and chaos magic, where like is thought to attract like, although in the case of chaos magic this has been succinctly described as, ‘fake it till you make it’. As befits a product from Watkins, the presentation and finish are first class, and help to make this set of cards a worthwhile addition to the serious collector (and user) of esoteric forms of self-help and divination.’
