About Dan Parent

Dan Parent - Betty and Veronica: Storybook
DAN PARENT is an American comic book artist and writer best known for his work with Archie Comics, where he is an innovator behind some of Archie's biggest hits. Parent was the writer of the story in which Archie fell for Valerie of Josie & the Pussycats, the artist of Obama and Palin in Riverdale, and the writer/artist of the Kevin Keller series, whose premiere story sold out its first printing, has been nominated for two GLAAD Media Awards as well as garnering worldwide media attention, and whose series continues to receive widespread, positive media attention. Most recently, Parent illustrated the Archie Meets Kiss graphic novel.

"The stories are light and breezy, and full of that special magic that makes them undeniably Archie." --Examiner.com

"In this handsome collection of reprints, Dan Parent renders Riverdale versions of "Alice in Wonderland," "Sleeping Beauty," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Cinderella." These amusing adaptations are true to the original stories, while having their own unique twists, such as Cinderbetty and Cinderonica driving themselves to the ball in "eco-friendly smartie cars" and Betty attending the Wonderland Mad Barbeque. Parent's art is bright and attractive and features some fun visuals. Readers as young as six and seven enjoy these stories for their mix of familiarity and humor. For older readers, the introductory notes for each story, Parent's afterword, and the sketchbook pages give background information and insight into the creative process." --ComicsBulletin.com

Charming and clever, these tales are a marvellous example of why Archie has been unsurpassed in this genre; providing decades of family friendly fun and wholesome teen entertainment. Moreover, aspiring creators will also delight in the closing Sketch Book section of this collection which provides a fascinating glimpse of Parent’s original pencilled art in 9 pages culled from the preceding stories. --ComicsReview.co.uk
