The Comedy Writer: an excerpt

Henry Halloran, the narrator and imperfect hero of Peter Farrelly's The Comedy Writer, arrives at moviedom's altar like thousands of other lambs to the slaughter. Having just been dumped by his girlfriend, and weary of his faceless, dead-end salesman job, he has packed up his compact car and headed west. He is just in town three days when he witnesses what will prove to be a pivotal moment in his L.A. experience. A desperate young woman jumps to her death from the roof of a building, and Henry, though rattled, leaves the scene without getting involved. What follows is depicted with an insider's eye for the telling, aberrant details that can only define the movie world.

In this issue of Bold Type, you'll find an excerpt from The Comedy Writer, as well as an interview with Peter Farrelly.
