  Kevin Canty, author of the short story collection A Stranger in This World and the novel Into the Great Wide Open, won the Transatlantic Review Award for the opening chapters of this novel, Nine Below Zero. His work has been published in Esquire, The New Yorker, Details, Story, New York Times Magazine, and Vogue. Currently living in Montana with his wife, the photographer Lucy Capehart, and two children, he teaches fiction at the University of Montana.
