The Snowball Shortlisted for 2008 Business Book of the Year Award
Alice Schroeder’s The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life was shortlisted for the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award. The winner will be announced October 14 in New York City at a dinner.

Time.com explores Alice Schroeder’s new biography, The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life, noting how the author juxtaposes Buffett’s investment strengths with his personal life and relationships. The New York Observer also suggests reading The Snowball, specifically during these tough financial times, and calls Buffett “the pillar behind the pillar.” Similarly, Portfolio.com mentions the timely publication of this latest biography, written with unprecedented access to the man, his family, and his files.

Trumbo’s Johnny Got His Gun ‘live on stage, on film’
A new film version of Dalton Trumbo’s classic anti-war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, premiered Sept. 22, starring Ben McKenzie (The O.C. and Junebug). McKenzie plays Joe Bonham, a WWI veteran and quadruple amputee who has also lost his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth and must struggle to communicate with those around him.
