Garden Spells SIBA Book Award Finalist
Congratulations to Sarah Addison Allen whose debut novel, Garden Spells was nominated as a fiction finalist by the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance for their 2008 SIBA Book Award. The SIBA Book Award was created to recognize great books of Southern origin. Winners will be announced at the Decatur Book Festival on Labor Day Weekend in Decatur, GA. Addison’s new novel, The Sugar Queen, will be available in hardcover May 20.
Bad Luck and Trouble Straight to the Top
Lee Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble debuted as the #1 mass market fiction paperback bestseller on the New York Times list this week joining a number of Bantam Dell titles including Remember Me?, The Alibi Man and The Innocent Man. Also on the list in fiction: Lara Adrian’s Midnight Rising in mass market paperback and Michelle Richmond’s The Year of Fog in trade paperback.
Mister Pip Splits Kiriyama Prize
Congratulations to Lloyd Jones whose novel, Mister Pip was named one of two winners of the 2008 Kiriyama Prize. The award, sponsored by Pacific Rim Voices, honors books about the Pacific Rim and South Asia. Mister Pip also won the 2007 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book in the South East Asia and Pacific region and was shortlisted for the 2007 Man Booker Prize.
