One For Sorrow by Christopher Barzak has been nominated for a 2008 Great Lakes Book Award (GLBA). This award recognizes and rewards books that capture the spirit and enhance awareness of the Great Lakes region. Winners will be announced on October 3 during the fall GLBA trade show.

Four Bantam Dell Titles Selected for American Library Association Awards
Mister Pip, Super Crunchers, Garden Spells and Genghis were each selected as winners of various American Library Association (ALA) Awards this week. Mister Pip and Super Crunchers were honored as ALA Notable Books, while Garden Spells received the RUSA Best Genre Award in the women’s fiction category. Mister Pip and Genghis were each selected for the ALEX Awards which honors ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults.

In the Country of Men Finalist for National Book Award
Hisham Matar’s In the Country of Men is a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) Award in Fiction. The NBCC is awarded annually to the finest books and reviews published in English. Book award winners will be announced in New York City in early March.
One For Sorrow Winner of Crawford Fantasy Award!
Christopher Barzak’s debut novel, One For Sorrow, was named the winner of the 2008 Crawford Fantasy Award. The Crawford Award is given to a novelist whose first fantasy book was published during the preceding 18 months. The award will be presented in March 2008 at the Association for the Fantastic in the Arts Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Undertow and Nova Swing Nominated for Philip K. Dick Award
Congratulations to Elizabeth Bear and M. John Harrison whose novels Undertow and Nova Swing, respectively, will appear on the final ballot for the 2008 Philip K. Dick Awards! The Philip K. Dick Award is presented annually by the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society for distinguished science fiction published in paperback original form in the United States.
