Readers are already buzzing about THE GLASS BOOKS OF THE DREAM EATERS by Gordon Dahlquist. Here are some of the rave reviews from readers who received advanced copies of the book:
"I truly didn't want to put it down. It was as though I had picked up one of Gordon Dahlquist's insidious blue glass books and was tumbled into a different era where time no longer mattered. The plot is as gothically labyrinthine as the architecture of the Institute, Tarr Manor and Harschmort in its weaving together, pulling apart and overlapping the plot lines of three main characters. The decadence, voluptuousness and erotic passages can leave one gasping in both delight and horror. The action sequences which constantly put the protagonists in peril are breathtaking. I found THE GLASS BOOKS OF THE DREAM EATERS to be a wonderfully written, beautifully imaginative and a completely satisfying read. It put me in mind of the grand adventure novels of Alexander Dumas.
I believe the highest compliment I can pay a novelist is that within all of us there is still that child that delights in being told a good story. THE GLASS BOOKS OF THE DREAM EATERS is that kind of good story in the almost lost art of story telling on a grand scale."

"Thank you very much for giving me a chance to read galleys of Gordon Dahlquist's THE GLASS BOOKS OF THE DREAM EATERS, a unique and enjoyable book that keep me entertained throughout. I've been describing it to friends as a gothic romance on amphetamines. The three main characters, the intrepid and endearing Miss Temple, the assassin with a decidedly romantic bent, and the ceaselessly logical Dr. Svenson emerge from the story as vibrant heroes. They slip into the reader's imagination and become firmly lodged as cherished literary friends. I savored the time I spent with them, in spite of, or perhaps because of, their incredible good fortune. We should all be so lucky."

"An exciting and imaginative read! Even though this book is not in the usual genre that I read, I was intrigued by the world created by Gordon Dahlquist. I also thoroughly enjoyed his wry sense of humor that crept its way into the story. Even though it did take me a while to get into the story, I found that I was unable to put the book down at its climax since I had become so interested in the characters (especially Dr. Svenson).
I thoroughly enjoyed Dahlquist's first book and am looking forward to
reading future works."

"THE GLASS BOOKS OF THE DREAM EATERS is an adventure story for grown-ups. Its size may seem imposing at the outset, but any reservations will be tossed aside after the first page.
I enjoyed this epic novel tremendously, and I found its characters to be irresistible. It is not often that a book with this much imagination can capture the attention of adults - it made me wistful for all the wonderful books of my childhood.
I recommend this novel for any reader who longs to escape reality and plunge into a world of assassins, murderers, mind-control, and especially, humor. It will not be easily forgotten."

"I must tell you that as I read the first chapters I was tempted to send the book back. I continued as I felt an obligation to you, to give the book a chance. My original assessment soon proved to be wrong, as the more I read the more I wanted to read. To me this is the sign of a good author. The descriptive powers of the author were not a distraction to the story, but seemed to put my mind into the picture. It held my interest until the end, and further, left me wanting to read more of these works."

"I just spent two hours at my local coffee house finishing this book, being drawn into the final scenes and unaware of everything around me. The three main characters are complex and intriguing. Although the book is long and has many different threads that come together bit by bit, it moves along.
As much I liked the tale of adventure and mystery, the depth of the characters stands out the most. Miss Temple is much more than an ingenue, Cardinal Chang is more than the underworld figure out of central casting and Doctor Svenson becomes more admirable as he admits and struggles with what he sees as his weaknesses of character. The characters of the cabal are intriguing as well.
This is the kind of book that takes over your visual imagination and leads you to see, as if they do exist, the mystical and haunting glass creations that are at the center of the plot. "
