Robert Redford is an Academy Award–winning actor, director, and producer best known for starring in the classic films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance KidThe Sting, and The Way We Were. Born in 1936 in Santa Monica, California, he studied at Pratt Institute, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the University of Colorado. The accomplished Hollywood star is also the founder of the Sundance Institute, a nonprofit organization that promotes independent storytelling in film and theater.
