Rocky Mountain Magazine, which won a National Magazine Award for General Excellence during his tenure there. He has been a freelance journalist since 1982, writing mostly about the environment, natural history, and outdoor travel for a number of publications including

Audubon,
National Geographic Traveler,

Travel & Leisure, among many others. He lives in Corvallis, Oregon, with his wife and daughter.
