Listening Library, founded by Anthony and Helen Ditlow, releases its first "talking book," Around the World in 80 Days, to tie-in with the David Niven movie. A commemorative 50th Anniversary Edition of Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne, as read by Jim Dale, is now available.

Listening Library receives its first Grammy nomination for Ray Bradbury's reading of Fahrenheit 451.
Listening Library becomes the home of recorded literature for young adults, releasing such classics as The Outsiders and The Chocolate War.
The entire Ramona Quimby series is performed by Stockard Channing and released.
Listening Library publishes Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The Harry Potter series quickly becomes the largest and fastest-selling series in audiobook history and the first title is soon nominated for a Grammy Award.
Madeleine L'Engle records her beloved Newbery Award winner A Wrinkle In Time.
Listening Library publishes the third and final dramatization of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. Critically acclaimed, The Amber Spyglass is the largest full cast dramatization to date, and includes nearly 40 London stage actors.
Listening Library wins the first Audiobook of the Year Award given by the Audio Publishers Association for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It is also nominated for a Grammy Award.
