Mother’s Day is a very special day. Take the time to celebrate your mother because for one, she gave birth to you (or adopted you!), so at least say thank you for that. She has also clothed and fed you and loved you even when you were kind of smelly and kept her awake half the night. I’m sure you are constantly telling your mother you love her and “thank you”, but this one Sunday in May should be dedicated to showering your mom with appreciation. We think one of the best ways you can do that is with audiobooks. Here are a few titles we think should be on every mother’s bookshelves.
Diane Keaton’s used the eighty-five journals of her mother’s to form the basis for her memoir, THEN AGAIN. Tying in her life experience’s to her mother Dorothy’s life, all in the voice of the Diane Keaton that we know and love (have you seen her on Ellen lately?) makes for an emotional, funny and heart-warming listen.
Really any Anna Quindlen title is a great gift to your mother, as her years spent writing for the New York Times were the ultimate pre-cursor to what we now know as Mommy Blogs. Her most recent, LOTS OF CANDLES, PLENTY OF CAKE is a candid, funny audiobook in which she uses her past, present, and future to explore what matters to women, in the decades of life and overall.
Fiction-wise, it’s probably best to find a novel that pulls at the heart strings, and Debbie Macomber’s THE INN AT ROSE HARBOR is the perfect book for that. It’s also the first book in a new series, so get her hooked right at the start! Based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn. Completely mom appropriate.
We have so many more titles that would make perfect last-minute gifts for Mother’s Day (or well-timed gifts for other holidays), so make sure to browse the site and find the book that your mom would love the best.
