ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Richard Leakey is the world's most famous living paleoanthropologist.  For five years, he was the director of Kenya's Wildlife Services, where he was successful in bringing elephant poaching to a halt.  He lives in Kenya.

Roger Lewin is a respected author in his own right.  The Royal Society of London judged his book Bones of Contention to be the best science book published in Great Britain in 1988.  He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
