J.D. McClatchy is the author of four other books of poems: Scenes from Another Life, Stars Principal, The Rest of the Way, and most recently Hazmat. His literary essays are colleted in White Paper and Twenty Questions. He is a coeditor of James Merrill's Collected Poems and Collected Novels and Plays, and the author of several opera libretti. He is Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches at Yale University and lives in Stonington, Connecticut.
