Alice Munro Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature

Albert Murray

On Thursday October 10th, Alice Munro was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature. Called a "master of the contemporary short story" by the Nobel committee, Munro is Canada's most well known and highly regarded writer of short fiction and the 13th woman to win the prize. The committee noted that Munro's "texts often feature depictions of everyday but decisive events, epiphanies of a kind, that illuminate the surrounding story and let existential questions appear in a flash of lightning." Please join us in congratulating Alice Munro on this momentous achievement.
