Gore Vidal Dies at 86

Gore Vidal, author and American intellectual, passed away last week at the age of 86. A literary giant whose career spanned seven decades, Vidal's longevity was almost as impressive as the breadth of his work. A noted playwright, novelist, essayist and public intellectual, Vidal wore many hats and will remembered for the great ease with which he moved from noir thrillers and historical fiction to political essays and memoir. His New York Times obituary can be accessed here.
