Philip Levine Named as the Next US Poet Laureate

Please join us in congratulating Philip Levine, the next United States' Poet Laureate. The Library of Congress today announced that Levine, author of over twenty collections of poetry, will succeed W. S. Merwin in the position of Poet Laureate, an appointment designed "to raise the national consciousness to a greater appreciation of the reading and writing of poetry." Robert Gates, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, has signed a two-book deal with Knopf, the first of which will be a memoir reflecting on his role as Secretary of Defense. The second book will focus on Gates's philosophy about leadership, his views about great leaders he has admired, and his thoughts about effective leadership.
