Dayton Literary Peace Prize 2010 Awards

Zeitoun

Dave Eggers was named the 2010 Dayton Literary Peace Prize nonfiction award winner for his book Zeitoun, the story of the Zeitoun family as they navigate the uncertainties of pre- and post-Katrina New Orleans. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's The Thing Around Your Neck was the 2010 runner-up in the fiction category. Her collection of short stories offers a penetrating look at both Nigeria and America that maps the collision of two cultures and the deeply human struggle to reconcile them.

Last year the Dayton Literary Peace Price Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, authors of Half the Sky, in recognition of their work dealing with human rights issues in Asia, Africa, and the developing world.
